September 2018-Present September 2015-May 2018 September 2014-May 2015 Provide painting demonstrations; teach watercolor methods, paint processes and techniques, (color and mixing; blending and shading; masking and resisting; gouache paint application, step-by-step large watercolor painting work process, for example: Coy Dog class project. Spring Semester June 2013 Taught watercolor techniques; color and mixing; geometric art projects; homework projects and painting demonstrations. May 1, June 18 & 25, 2013 Provide demonstrations; Taught measuring art for mats and frames; discussed the importance of producing professional consistent art display materials; demonstrated how to create professional mats on a logon mat cutter; demonstrated how to properly clean glass to frame art prints; had class work in groups to achieve measurement accuracy using rough dummy art mats. March - May 2013 Demonstrated how to use basic acrylic painting materials; students learned how to prepared canvas and paper for acrylic paint applications; students gained paint mixing skills and practiced using acrylic paint gels, retardants and mixing mediums. January 11- March 1, 2013 Provided painting demonstrations, Berry Girl and Two in Field; taught students how to develop paintings of working people through proven watercolor techniques, value studies, color keys and artwork production methods. Students produced black and white painting studies to create final color paintings. October 26 - December 7, 2012 Provided painting demonstrations; taught color; mixing and a variety of watercolor techniques to help students create and develop modern geometric watercolor paintings. Fall Semester 2012 Provided painting demonstrations; presented a variety of techniques; class focused on the development of three floral watercolor paintings; taught floral based artwork; students worked from their sketches and helped the class produce final art. Fall Semester 2012 Provide painting demonstrations for basic landscapes. Students learned how to apply Masking Fluid and Rubber Cement; practiced masking and resisting techniques extensively; learned about the importance of isolating painting areas and gained and understanding about how to create detail elements in their Landscapes. Fall Semester 2011 Taught beginning watercolor techniques, color theory and mixing; gave class projects and outside art assignments, essays and color vocabulary test. Teaching tasks also included performing individual and group demonstrations, critiques to help broaden class technical painting skills; prepared attendance sheets, course syllabuses and weekly assignments; submitted online daily attendance records and midterm and final grades. Teaching Style: demonstrated watercolor techniques; encouraged self-practice and experimentation with color and techniques; recommended observation and critical thinking; gave reviews andencouraged feedback; assigned museum and gallery essays to students with low attendence and low grades. December 2011 – Present Create digital and on-board original art work concepts and studies; produce original digital art concepts and digital textures; experiment with mixed media, collage and assemblages and research digital printing methods through in-person visits and sample prints. 2010 – 2011 Provide painting demonstrations; taught beginning and intermediate watercolor painting with focus on fun and encouraging lessons; basic color theory and a variety watercolor techniques; provided lesson plans, sign-in sheets, class hand-outs and supply lists; performed in-class painting demonstrations and met with the program and executive director to discuss class schedules. January 2010 Participated in gallery show meeting to effectively review included artwork; selected art based on show theme, art execution and technical ability; provided show awards through the process of critical discussion and eliminations. Fall and Spring 2010 Provide painting demonstrations; taught watercolor painting workshops with focus on color, mixing and watercolor techniques; produced lesson plans, material lists and class handouts; performed painting and technical demonstrations and met with the program coordinator for class schedules. 2008 – 2009 Provide painting demonstrations; taught beginning watercolor painting; color and techniques; produced lesson plans and class handouts; met with the program director to setup class dates and order art supplies. 2008 – Present Provide painting demonstrations; taught watercolor painting with emphasis on color and techniques; mixed media painting with watercolor pencils, acrylics and watercolors; provided weekly lesson plans; encouraged residents to paint and have fun; observed physical concerns and help residents when necessary; encouraged experimentation with watercolor and crayon, graphite, pencil and grease pencil; assist with paint applications and hand-painted cut-outs for watercolor collage. December 2007 – 2010 Created original artwork; produced color studies; practiced & experimented with watercolors and mixed media; communicated art production to framers, printers, photographers and copy services for community and personal projects; provided art direction and production for original watercolor paintings for Giclée Limited Edition Prints; produced retail art paper products and designed and produced graphic print promotions. 2005 Edmonds High School, Edmonds WA Provided a 90-minute lecture and discussion that included a question and answer session to the senior art class about my art background and experience. Presented slides of my work; discussed and explained the similarities and differences between fine and commercial art. 2004-2007 Shoreline WA Provide painting demonstrations; taught beginning and intermediate watercolor painting techniques and color theory; student hands-on lessons; produced lesson plans and class handouts. |
